Shannon Turner
interdisciplinary artist-researcher
Shannon Turner is an artist-researcher based in Berlin. Their work inhabits unruly disciplinary margins, moving somewhere between posthuman autoethnography and prefigurative spellcasting - enacted through ritual and expanded performance, and social and spatial interventions.
Emerging from a visual anthropology background, their practice unfolds in embodied and immersive research, collaborative engagements, and participatory processes. Their long-term collective project Swamp Song navigates abjection and precarity through the queer mythopoetics of urban wastelands.
Their ongoing interest in collective strategy is also sustained in co-producing festival and events, orgsanising within cooperative spaces and communal support networks. They are currently completing a 6-month training in community grief facilitation.
